Nationwide corporation specializing in the renovation of apartment communities and commercial buildings seeks to hire a motivated and enthusiastic Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant serving as the "right-arm" to the VP of Operations. Perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounting transactions. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, creative, work hard and have fun! Must be able to learn quickly and effectively handle multiple projects. Problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude are musts!

Responsibilities...

Setup each job with job number, cost codes (painting, etc.), cost accounting, invoicing, etc.
Data Entry, entering vendor invoices and resolving invoice discrepancies
Vendor file maintenance
Track AMEX credit cards for all employees ensuring each person is sent their charges to approve and code, and maintain AMEX balance information
Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
Process and maintain vendor credentialing and perform problem resolution with vendors
W-9 solicitation and maintenance
Perform accounting functions and various administrative tasks within a multi-family construction/renovations environment
Experience in processing Accounts Payable
Handle reconciliations and journal entries
Assist with payroll, payroll reporting and budgets
Maintain subcontractor Certificate of Insurance and ensure they are current
Track costing for each subcontractor
Maintain and keep annual reports up-to-date and send them to the different states where the company does business
Maintain contractor licenses and ensure they maintain the proper licenses and insurance, product certification, vendor rebate programs.
Ensure all contractors insurance (general liability, auto, comprehensive, etc.) are current
Maintain workers compensation files and claims
Assist with special and on-going projects

Qualifications...

Minimum 1-3 years general accounting experience with an understanding of accounting principles and practices
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required
Outlook, PowerPoint, and Yardi a plus
Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of professionalism
Multi-tasking skills with ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
